| 'Tao of Pooh' by Benjamin Hoff. Contrary to appearances, this is not a children's book. The author cleverly uses the 'Winnie the Pooh' stories to illustrate basic Taoist teachings. I often found myself laughing out load while reading this book. This book is a must read if you are new to Taoism. 'The Te of Piglet' by Benjamin Hoff. Hoff followed up the 'Tao of Pooh' with 'The Te of Piglet'. 'Te' is pronounced "deh" and means virtue. Hoff again uses the 'Winnie the Pooh' characters to illustrate Taoist principles. This book is not as humorous as 'The Tao of Pooh', since Hoff uses this book to sound a warning. 'Tao Teh King' Translated by Archie Bahm. Other than the Bible, the 'Tao Te Ching' has been translated more than any other book. Therefore, there are hundreds of versions of the book originally written by Lao Tzu, 2400 years ago. Bahm wrote this version drawing on the best translations from many of the other books available. Therefore, it's a kind of 'best of' version of this pivotal Taoist book. 'Zhuangzi Speaks' Illustrated by Tsai Chih Chung, Translated by Brian Bruya. This is a comic strip version of the teachings of Zhuangzi, also known as Chuang Tzu. As with the 'Tao Te Ching', there are many translations of the 2300 year old writings of Chuang Tzu. This book is an easy to read version of what is commonly called 'The Inner Chapters'. The illustrations are brilliant and Chuang Tzu's humour is delightful. All these books are available from Amazon This is just information, not an advertisement. |
